The Online Scoreboard is our answer to the leaderboards you see for the big golf tournaments. It lets you see who you’re playing against and how you stack up against the competition. This is the way we determine who gets to go home with the cash and bragging rights. (And, by the way, it pretty much eliminates lying, since it’s online and all your friends and family members can see it.)
Since all tournaments end on Sunday, the Online Scoreboard gets its final weekly update on Sunday night or early Monday morning. At that time a record of all the gross and net scores, a calculation of the purse size, and the names of the winners will be on display. The Scoreboard also shows the course each golfer played, handicap adjustments, course and slope rating adjustments, published par adjustments, and other tournament information.
The Online Scoreboard is your connection to
all tournament data. The fact that it can be viewed and studied by anyone
at any time is a warrantee of the integrity of the competition.
In most cases the unofficial results displayed on the Scoreboard
each Sunday evening will also be the final results. But to ensure that
players and tournament staff have a chance to check over the data and
correct any errors, we do wait a week before disbursing winners’
checks.
All players are required to check the Online Scoreboard
to verify their scores. If there’s a discrepancy between your information
and the scores displayed on the Scoreboard, we ask you to notify Maui
Jackpot Golf staff during the one-week period after the tournament ends.
Here's an example of our online scoreboard. As you
can see, gross scores run from a low of 68 to a high of 131 but
" handicap-adjusted" scores narrow the gap to a 2.18 shot range.
The example shows that every shot is important in the tournament.
Any of these players could have dramatically improved their position
and their winnings with a single shot.
