Rules of Play
|
|
While the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews and the PGA might find
our rules a little generous, we set them up to make sure everything in our
tournaments is fair, fun, and honest.. After all, you’re on vacation, not
back at the office.
But while our rules are generous, they’re in place for a reason. Every
player is obligated to adhere to them. While the tournaments are intended
for fun and pleasure, we take the rules, the purse, and the handicap system
very seriously indeed.
Integrity and honesty are critical to
good golf. You’ll get them from us; maintaining integrity in this
competition is part of our commitment to you. In return we ask all players
to commit to integrity and honesty as well by strictly obeying the rules of
play. Players who disregard or abuse the rules are subject to
disqualification.
All USGA rules apply except for the following:
|
| 1. |
Players may lift, clean, and place all balls (including balls that land
in the rough) provided the ball is within 12 inches of its original
location, retains the same line of flight to the hole, and has not advanced
any closer to the hole. All balls that come to rest in a marked hazard (like
bunkers and other non-lateral hazards) must be played as they lie. |
| |
|
| 2. |
All balls that fly or roll out of bounds,
into high grass, jungle, or ravines will be played as shots into a lateral
hazard with a one-shot penalty. (Jungle: now, there’s a hazard your
hometown golf course probably doesn’t have.) A replacement ball will
be placed at the point where the ball crossed into the lateral hazard. If
a ball carries over a lateral hazard, lands and then rolls back into the
hazard, the replacement ball will be placed where it rolls back into the
hazard. |
| |
|
| 3. |
There are no mulligans or conceded putts. All putts must be holed out and
there are no practice strokes that involve hitting the ball or practice
putts between holes. |
| |
|
| 4. |
The maximum recorded score on any hole will be a nine |
| |
|
| 5. |
All equipment must conform to USGA standards. |
| |
|
| 6. |
Golf is an honorable sport and all participants must act accordingly.
Flagrant abuse of the rules or the spirit of the rules will result in
disqualification at the sole discretion of Maui Jackpot Golf. The entry fee
of disqualified players is not refundable. |
| |
|
| 7. |
Protests or notice of a violation of the rules should be made to your
forecaddie who will report it to the management of Maui Jackpot Golf. You
may also make the protest or notice directly to Maui Jackpot Golf within one
week after the tournament ends. |
| |
|
| 8. |
The decision of Maui Jackpot Golf in regard to all protests will be made
at its sole discretion and will be a final decision which is binding upon
all contestants. |
| |
|
| 9. |
Players may offer assistance to one another including yardage, club
selection, type of shot, reading putts, etc., but each player must play his
or her own shot. The forecaddie may not offer assistance in reading putts. |
| |
|
| 10. |
All weekly tournaments begin on Monday morning and conclude Sunday
evening. |
| |
|
| 11. |
To determine worst holes for the Calloway System the highest numerical scores on holes will be used which may not necessarily be the worst hole in relation to par. |
| |
|
Forget your opponents. Always play against
par.
--Sam Snead
It’s good sportsmanship not to pick up lost balls while they are
still rolling.
--Mark Twain
I thought it would be easy to win but I folded like a cheap tent in a
high wind.
--Adam,
Bismark ND (Handicap 0)
This is more fun than naked volleyball!
