You can play golf as an art form, and some do. But for
many golfers, competition makes the play more interesting and money makes
the competition more intense. You know how the little side bets between
friends add spice to a game? Well, it’s that much more rewarding when
you’re playing for high stakes.
When there’s a lot on the line in a tournament,
you’ll feel the pressure and energy. It may bring out the best in
you—or the worst. Every shot is its own little drama; every hole is
another thrill.
How much is at stake? That depends on how many people
enter the same tournament you do. In the example below, we use 300 players
because that figure is at the low end of what our staff of forecaddies can
handle in a week’s play. Here’s how it breaks down:

The total payout for this tournament is $15,000. You’ll note that this is 100% of all the purse contributions golfers paid in. All funds paid into the tournament for the purse are segregated from other tournament funds and maintained in an isolated, sacrosanct account.
There will always be fifteen tournament winners each week. The size of the purse depends on contributions, so it can vary from week to week. Some weeks are clearly going to have a more lavish payout than others. On the weeks when there are fewer competitors, the purses will be smaller, but they’ll also be easier to win.
In every case, no matter what the total size of the purse is, winners are awarded checks based on the percentages above. When there’s a tie, the purse sums for each of the tied players are averaged. (For instance, if three players are tied for second place, the second-, third-, and fourth-place purses are added and then split evenly among the three tied players.)
When you win at Maui Jackpot Golf,
you’ll get a handsome check with our logo on it. You can frame and
display a color copy of the check in a place where it will impress friends
and colleagues—or where it will just fill you with memories of one
of the great triumphs of your life.
Amateurs who do not want to interfere with their amateur
status can donate their winnings to their favorite charity.
Now I can tell my wife that all that time
spent golfing was worth it.

It’s nice to have the opportunity to play for
so much money, but it’s nicer to win it.
